The first”Smiler-on-the-way” Family maternity photo shoot

The Thompson’s “Smiler-on-the-way” Family maternity photo shoot is Smiley Day Photography’s first pregnancy/maternity photo shoot.   Walking a road with this mum as friend and photographer  has been particularly special. (This shoot was tentatively booked a year before the little one was conceived!) Having prayed for this little one’s conception, it was a great joy when this pregnancy was announced.  About a week later, the date for this photo shoot was set and my heart was beaming. Sharing the excitement of the family hearing the heartbeat for the first time was special. Capturing the joy of this pregnancy and  the beauty of this little family was a privilege.

Fittingly this family maternity shoot was on the day Smiley Day Photography celebrated its 1st year in business. It was a day marking the anticipation of life to be birthed, unknown but exciting times lying ahead – expectancy.  It was a beautiful sunny hot summer’s day. A day of capturing a day-in-the-life-of-a-family-of-3 before they become a family of 4.  I hope that all “Smiley Days” will be treasured monuments of celebration in a family’s life. My hope for this family is the same hope I have for all my clients. That the hour (or more) we spend together somewhere beautiful outdoors, will be one of lasting memories that are treasured, captured beautifully and hung on walls to bring joy to the heart in years to come.

As the family chose not to find out whether they were having a boy or a girl, red, navy blue, light blue and white were a great choice of gender-neutral outfit colours. These cute little white boots/socks are a hand-knitted sentimental gift from baby’s great Granny.  It’s great when clients bring along something special to them which they’d like to have in their photographs.
