Royal cakes with a Green tea twist
Edited: Royal Cakes with a Green tea twist is the perfect blog pot to reshare today. On the occasion of Prince Harry and Megan Markle’s wedding this weekend, 19th May 2018, here are some cake ideas! Are you going to be watching and celebrating? Perhaps you’d like to bake a cake to enjoy afterwards. The links to these yummy recipes can be found and the end of this post… In my first edit I was going to include a bit more behind the scenes info on how we created these but then my computer did an unsheduled restart and that was all unsaved… but I will say, the photography was a joint effort – the food was baked and decorated by Carolyn Robb, the table styling was by Deirdre Reford and the photography by myself, before “Smiley Day Photography.”
On the 1st of July 2017, Smiley Day Photography celebrated its first year in business, prompted by this, and another photography opportunity. So, what a good time to do a throwback blog post on these Royal cakes and tasty bakes. Ooh I do love cake! I still recall how good these afternoon tea treats tasted after photographing them.
One of aunts is well-known former Royal chef Carolyn Robb. For the Queen’s 90th birthday, an advertising agency asked her to develop 3 recipes incorporating PG Tips Green Tea. She asked if I would like to try out some food photography. I leapt at the opportunity to collaborate with her. I learnt a lot about food photography, planned my shots and had fun working on it together.
The three cakes and bakes:
Sticky PG Tips Green Tea cake, PG Tips Green Tea Victoria Sandwich Cake with Summer Berries and Vanilla bean shortbread biscuits, with PG Tips Mint Green Tea chocolate and ganache.
PG Tips Green Tea Sticky fruit loaf.

The recipes for these adapted favourites can also be found in Heart Home, Female First, The Lady, Food 52 and numerous other online magazines or blogs.
You can read more about Carolyn’s work/life experiences and see a few more photos on Carolyn’s website, The Royal Touch.
